A CHINESE PALE CELADON JADE COCKEREL
QIANLONG 1736-95
The translucent stone is finely carved with the cockerel holding a branch of millet in his beak, with incised details to the feathers, 9.5cm; together with a jade carving of a lotus seed-head and a jade standing model of a phoenix, the cockerel with a wood stand, 14.5cm. (4)
Provenance: the collection of Miss Elizabeth Augusta Grosvenor Guest (1879-1960), grand-daughter of Richard Grosvenor, 2nd Marquess of Westminster (1795-1869), and grand-daughter of Lady Charlotte Guest (later Schreiber, 1812-95).
