TWO CHINESE ARMORIAL PLATES

18TH CENTURY

One decorated in the Imari palette, painted with the arms of Brydges, Duke of Chandos, impaling Willoughby and Middleton above a motto 'Mantien le Droit', all within a broad floral border, the other decorated with the arms of Harries of Cruckton, Ludlow and Tonge Castle, Shropshire within a scrolling vine border to the rim, 22.5cm. (2)

Provenance: sold at Sotheby's Fawley House Sale, 14th and 15th October 2003, lots 200 and 215.
