A CHINESE BRONZE HU AND COVER

16TH/17TH CENTURY

Cast in two parts, the upper section detachable, the pear-shaped body with two dragon mask handles, decorated with archaistic scrolling patterns, with bands of lappets to the rims and four lines of seal script to the underside, 38cm, 7kg. (2)

Provenance: a Hong Kong private collection, purchased from Nicholas Pitcher, London, on 22nd August 2008.
