The sale features many high-quality works of art, including ceramics, lacquer, furniture, bronzes, jades, and paintings. Highlights of the sales will be displayed at our Mayfair office in early November.
We are delighted to offer three lots of important Imperial Chinese cloisonné from the collection of Alfred Morrison Esquire (1821-97), Fonthill House, Wiltshire, and then John Granville Morrison (1906-96), 1st Baron Margadale of Islay and thence by direct descent to the present owner.
Further highlights from the sale include a large bronze sculpture by Taiwanese artist Ju Ming (1938-2023), entitled Taichi Series – Single Whip, from the collection of Lady Linda Wong Davies, the so-called ‘queen of Chinese cultural diplomacy’, as well as Chinese Transitional and Kangxi porcelains from the collection of the 9th Marquis of Waterford, Henry Nicholas de la Poer (b.1958) of Curraghmore, County Waterford.
We are also delighted to offer a rare Chinese huanghuali corner-leg waisted stand, with distinctive giant’s-arm braces (bawangcheng), which is dated to the late Ming dynasty and was purchased from Grace Wu Bruce Co Ltd in November 1993.
