A KASHMIR TERRACOTTA BUST OF A CROWNED BODHISATTVA

The stylised face with an aquiline nose and large almond-shaped eyes beneath incised arched eyebrows, wearing a tall elaborate crown formed as three medallions enclosing flowerheads and foliage, his torso adorned with beaded jewellery, all supported on a modern stand, 54cm.
Provenance: formerly a UK private collection, purchased in Dubai; and then a Belgian private collection, purchased from Shirley Day, New York, on 24th June 2005. A copy of the invoice is available.
