Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas | Antiquities
Tuesday 20th February 2024. Starts at 10:00am
We are proud to present our February sale that will include a selection of pieces from around the world. Greek, Egyptian and Roman Antiquities continue to amaze us with the skills and artistry of these ancient civilisations. These are also seen in the Pre-Columbian section which flows into part IV of the Romy Rey Collection. It has been a real pleasure handling this collection and I hope you continue to discover my pieces to add to yours.
An exciting discovery of three watercolours depicting life on the North American Plains in the mid 19th century are a wonderful record of times before the landscapes changed.
A stunning Inuit arrow straightener shows a vital tool for the owner but also captures the charm and humour of the engraver, who intricately carved the piece.
A collection of Fijian artefacts show an array of clubs and everyday objects as does the van Raalte collection. This includes mainly Oceanic clubs, Massim paddles, bowls and staffs, along with Zulu knobkerries, staffs and a rare Mangaia Island adze.
Enjoy looking through the catalogue and please don’t hesitate in contacting us with any queries you may have and we hope to see you at the view.
