The Oceanic section of Day 1 includes an early 19th century Maori feather box waka huia with the lid inscribed 1830, and a wonderful Marquesas Islands U’u war club from the family of Elijah Armitage; a missionary living in Tahiti from 1821 to 1836.
Antiquities in Day 2 will allow bidders to compete for objects from the estate of the late Ingrid McAlpine, a prominent dealer from the 1970s, ranging from Egyptian to Greek and Roman. Specialist Will Hobbs' particular favourites being a group of South Italian owl skyphoi, dating to the 4th century BC, that have been lotted individually. He looks forward to seeing you at the view.
