A Good Martin Brothers stoneware jardiniere ovoid form, modelled in low relief and carved with grotesque fish, shoals of small fish and puffer fish, between eels and waterweed incised 3-1890 Martin Brothers London & Southall, hairline to body 17cm. high This jardiniere displays the technical ability of the brothers work from the late 1880's onwards. Whilst still wet the clay body has been pressed out or pushed through with an implement. It has then been worked from the outside to create the slightly raised fish and waterweed.
