20th Century Design
We hold four specialist auctions across the year: Clarice Cliff and Art Deco, Arts and Crafts, Design, and British Art Pottery. These themed sales cover ceramics, glass, metal ware, works on paper, silver and textiles, from the Arts and Crafts movement to the present day.
The department achieved a record sale total in June 2014 and a world record auction price of a piece of Martin Brothers pottery, beating the world record previously set by Woolley and Wallis in 2013.
We have successfully auctioned the collections of Lord Parmoor, the BBC producer Verity Lambert, and more recently a private collection of Burmantofts Faience Pottery, where we equalled the world record auction price for a Burmantoft charger. The department concluded 2017 with a prestigious sale of the studio pottery collection of Professor Luke Herrmann. Woolley and Wallis are market leaders in 20th Century Design, in particular contemporary ceramics, Martin Ware, Clarice Cliff and Arts & Crafts.
The 20th Century Design department is located at Unit 1B, Castle Gate Business Park, Old Sarum, Salisbury, SP4 6QX. Sales are still held at Castle Street.
